Tastes Like Childhood EP

DOWNLOAD: Tastes Like Childhood EP

Well, as some of you know I am in the process of working on Winter Soulstice 2, which should be released on December 1st (that is if I don't any last minute changes and push it back). It's a short but sweet five track instrumental EP that was inspired by my favorite childhood television shows and games and movies. I put it all together in just under four hours, which is insanely fast for me (I am really slow when it comes to composing stuff). But yeah, check it out, enjoy, and let me know what you think.

Peace!

Castle - Top Notcher

Here is a joint that I made over one of my own tracks called "Top Notcher" that I created, along with "Rappin' Machine," for a mixtape I made earlier this year. The sample is simple little loop. I would have felt guilty for looping it if the sample wasn't so dope. And I had heard no one else use the sample before, so I decided to roll with it. I think it came out pretty good. What say you?

Peace.

Clipse - Kinda Like A Big Deal (Castle Remix)

DOWNLOAD: Clipse - Kinda Like A Big Deal (Remix)

Another remix for you guys. As evident from the title and the little pic I have above, this here's a remix of The Clipse's "Kinda Like A Big Deal" featuring Kanye West. This is probably, by far, my most favorite remix, mainly because I used samples for this remix instead of virtual instruments (I think sampling is my strong suit if you haven't guessed). I think I did a good job at keeping it fresh, though, so don't worry about it sounding too "90s" or however you think sampled beats sound. Ha. Anyway, listen and enjoy.

Peace.

Castle vs. Jill Scott

Okay, so, I flipped Jill Scott's first single, "Gettin' in the Way," which has one of the illest bass lines in the world. I had fun creating it, but of course I had some doubts about ever releasing it. In fact, I had planned on lockin' this in the vault and never letting anyone hear it. Why? Well, for some reason I (arrogantly) believed that it sounded too similar to a Dilla beat. And the last thing I wanted was someone screamin' "BITER!" so I had considered locking it in the vault.

Then the better half of me said "forget it," and I made this blog. Haha.

Dilla Disciple, Backpacker – call me whatever. Just let me know if the beat is dope.

You wanna buy this ish? Email me at emceecastle@gmail.com, and I'll be sure to respond to you happily and swiftly.

Peace.

Castle vs. The Jacksons

The Jackson LIVE

As you might have guessed from the video above, the track I've sampled is "Never Can Say Goodbye" by the Jackson 5, a song that's relatively well-known. I first sampled this song some years ago, and the beat I'd created with the sample was real mediocre (granted, I didn't do as much chopping as I do nowadays). It sounded like any other joint that used the sample, except with a few change-ups.

I was re-motivated to sample the song again after hearing 50 Cent's diss track to Rick Ross, "Tia Told Me." I thought the beat was dope, but the producer didn't do anything that me or any other producer hadn't done a million times before. The more I heard it, the more my muse kept whispering "Yo...you can FLIP this!" And there you have it.

If you're interested in purchasing the beat, feel free to email me at emceecastle@gmail.com, and I'll gladly give you purchasing info. I'm reasonable, I promise.

Jay-Z - Run This Town (Castle Remix)

OK, here goes a remix that I did for Jay-Z's "Run This Town." I apologize for the vocals sounding a little choppy or off in some spurts. It's a DIY (Do It Yourself) acapella, and out of all the acapellas I'd managed to get my hands on, this one was the very best quality. Hope you guys like it!

Peace.

Rappin' Machine

Time for some rappin'. Here is a song that I did earlier this year over Q-Tip's "Move" from The Renaissance (crazy dope album), for a mixtape I had made that garnered little to no attention what so ever (LOL). Lil' apprehensive about writing to it at first, but I get that way whenever I try to rap over a J Dilla beat. Don't want cats screamin' bloody murder 'cause I "ruined" a beat, you know? Anyway, here it is. Hope you like it.
