The Jackson LIVE
As you might have guessed from the video above, the track I've sampled is "Never Can Say Goodbye" by the Jackson 5, a song that's relatively well-known. I first sampled this song some years ago, and the beat I'd created with the sample was real mediocre (granted, I didn't do as much chopping as I do nowadays). It sounded like any other joint that used the sample, except with a few change-ups.
I was re-motivated to sample the song again after hearing 50 Cent's diss track to Rick Ross, "Tia Told Me." I thought the beat was dope, but the producer didn't do anything that me or any other producer hadn't done a million times before. The more I heard it, the more my muse kept whispering "Yo...you can FLIP this!" And there you have it.
